The Horse Spirit Animal

Symbolizing the Appetite for Life

Horse spirit animals are likely to represent your inner strength and driving force in life. A typical symbolism for the horse is one of an animal represents physical strength, vitality, but also our psychological or emotional ability to go on in life.

Depending on what this spirit animal means to you, it could symbolize your ability to overcome obstacles in life and pursue your goal no matter what may stand on your way.

Horse back riding is more than a sport, it helps in all aspects of life to become better rounded.  Meet our team, and we will help you with your personal riding or training goals whatever they may be.

Meet Our Team!

Dawn Bonin

Owner/Trainer

Dawn Bonin is a natural horsemanship trainer and recently achieved her dream of owning a farm. Having background in hunter/jumper, dressage, western pleasure and trail, led her to focus on natural horsemanship.   She finds a common ground to improve relationships and communication through intuition and understanding, using as little devices and pressure as possible. Her goal for every horse and rider is to improve their relationship to be able to ride bareback and bridless. Dawn has been teaching people and horses of all breeds and disciplines to improve their communication through natural horsemanship techniques, having great success with “problem” horses and training issues, for 15 years. Dawn has jumped on board with the fast growing sport of Versatility, because of its ability to encourage people and horses to reach beyond their comfort zones to improve your relationship and athletic ability, all while having fun. Because that is really what got us all started with horses in the first place, isn't it?  Dawn is available for lessons, training, clinics, and demos.

Deborah Murphy

USDF Associate Instructor and Centered Riding® Instructor Level ll

Deborah has been riding all her life beginning in California with trail riding and Gymkhana. She was introduced to dressage in the early 1980’s, while stationed in Maine as an Air Traffic Controller for the USAF.
Upon Deborah’s arrival in CT in the early 1990’s she began working with Sarah Geikie as well as other dressage trainers in order to further her education, and she continues to work with Sarah.
Deborah became interested in Centered Riding after attending an open clinic with Deborah Moynihan, a Level IV Centered Riding Instructor/Clinician, who she continues to work with.
Deborah is extremely enthusiastic about sharing Centered Riding techniques with students. She states that whatever your discipline, Centered Riding enhances it! Her teaching style focuses on the individual needs and goals of each rider and horse to help them progress in a enjoyable and safe way.  She is happy to work with riders of all abilities and has had great success in increasing rider confidence. Deborah is VERY positive, and has tons of patience, believing that the journey of progress, in riding and training should be fun and rewarding for all participants. Deborah utilizes dressage, Centered Riding, and techniques learned from Natural Horsemanship, Horse Agility, Horse Versatility, and any other horse or rider related training, that will help her students learn to ride with feel and have enjoyable success.
Centered Riding is quite complementary to Natural Horsemanship.
Deborah loves to share the basics and beyond of Centered Riding and is providing instruction at Babcock Hill Horses Naturally.

  Kari VanOstrand

Instructor

kari.jpg

Kari is grateful to have thirty years of experience with horses.  At a young age Kari took interest in dressage and focused on it until she was a young adult and then pursued eventing for the next ten years.  She then became drawn to natural techniques with horses on the ground and under saddle.  That progression has led Kari to integrate her horse sense, intuition, experiences and education in dressage, eventing, and natural horsemanship techniques.  Kari is a certified Master Equine Manager, certified equine sports massage therapist, a certified Reiki practitioner for animals and humans, and holds a MA in education and teaching.  Kari has had the amazing opportunities of training with advanced level eventers, training with an Olympic event rider for three years, competing at USEA sanctioned events, and accumulating awards at the state, regional, and national level.  However, connecting to and working with horses in the most authentic and meaningful way is what is most important to her.  Kari’s respect, appreciation, and love of the horse along with providing people with positve experiences and skills to be the most effective, connected, and authentic horseperson drives Kari’s instruction and approach with horses.  Her goal is to create and maintain a safe, happy, mutually respectful, authentic, and fun relationship between horse and human.  Kari is available for groundwork lessons and riding lessons.
